Week 10 NFL Betting: 5 Games’ Football Odds You Have To Bet On

NFL Week 10 “Insider Betting”

I can’t believe that headline, it’s already week 10 of the NFL season, where has the time gone? We have reached the point where the playoff picture is starting to get a little bit clearer for some teams and there should be a (at least foggy) view of the teams that are contenders and those who aren’t.

This is the point in the season when picking games can get a bit tougher as odds makers have the same idea of who’s good and who isn’t so it becomes less and less likely that you’ll see very generous spreads and “sure things”.

Sunday features some very tempting match ups and I’m here to point you in the direction of those and hopefully help you stack up that bankroll heading into the home stretch of the season.

Let’s have a look at the five games that have caught my eye this week.

Pittsburgh vs New York Jets

Week 10 NFL Odds Steelers -4

I already wrote a preview for this game, so if you want a bit more of a detailed look at it feel free to check it out through my blogger page.

The Cole’s Notes version however, for those of you who don’t want to digest a whole bunch of stats, is that the Steelers have been assaulting teams through the air with 12 passing TDs in their last two games; the Jets have given up 24 TDs through the air this season and have just one interception.

This game is set up for Ben Roethlisberger to have a feeding frenzy, the Jets defense has been solid in terms of total yards surrendered but I still like Pittsburgh to win by more than a TD.

Week 10 NFL Pick: The Jets’ complete ineptitude on offense is going to make this a very tough game for them to even keep respectable, given the way the Steelers have been scoring points. Go with Pittsburgh here.

Denver vs Oakland

Week 10 NFL Odds Broncos -11.5

Oakland is bad, real bad. The Broncos were given a rude awakening at the hands of the Patriots last week and I treat Peyton Manning the same way I do Tom Brady; go with him to light someone up the week after a loss. After the Broncos lost to the Seahawks earlier this season, Manning went out and destroyed the Cardinals for their only loss on the season, amassing 479 passing yards and four touchdowns.

That was against the Cardinals…Oakland is going to have their work cut out for them this week.

Week 10 NFL Pick: Manning may not put up the numbers he did against Arizona earlier this season, but he is definitely going to be out to prove something and put the Broncos right back into the conversation as the best team in the AFC. This one should be a blowout, take Denver.

Atlanta vs Tampa Bay

Week 10 NFL Odds Falcons -2.5

This could very well be the game that seals Falcons’ coach Mike Smith’s fate. The Falcons have been a nightmare again this season and are sitting at 2-6, just one game up on the lowly 1-7 Bucs.

Top Bet

Sure, one of Atlanta’s two wins was a massacre of these same Bucs, but that was in the confines of the Georgia Dome, and the Falcons’ struggles outdoors are well documented (they haven’t won a game outside since November 2012).

The Bucs will sit down QB Mike Glennon who has been flat out awful this season, in favour of Josh McCown on Sunday. Josh hasn’t been a standout with the Bucs this year, but he was very good a season ago with the Bears, filling in for an injured Jay Cutler. In eight games of work last year, McCown managed 13 TD passes to just one interception, while posting a 109 QB rating.

Week 10 NFL Pick: McCown is by no means the saviour of the Bucs as their season is over already, but if anyone is ripe to get picked off it’s the Falcons who can’t do anything outside of their comfy dome in Atlanta. I’m taking the Bucs in this one.

Miami vs Detroit

Week 10 NFL Odds Lions -2.5

Miami is suddenly hot, with three straight wins, which could really be five straight if not for the last second heroics of Aaron Rodgers in week six. In that three game win streak is a destruction of the San Diego Chargers 37-0, but it’s hard to take a lot of stock in that as the Chargers have looked bad for about four weeks now.

The Detroit Lions… I’ve been pushing these guys all season and I really do think they’re the best team in the NFC North. They’re just finding ways to win through great play on defense and the offense is doing enough to get W’s without star receiver Calvin Johnson in the lineup.

Megatron looks set to return this week and the Lions are riding a three game win streak of their own, as well as coming off a bye week.

Week 10 NFL Pick: Lions QB Matt Stafford will have his favourite target back and the week off should be nothing but beneficial for running back Reggie Bush who is always nursing some kind of bump or bruise. I like the Lions to win this one by at least six.

Carolina vs Philadephia

Week 10 NFL Odds Eagles -6.5

The Monday nighter is a very intriguing match up and I’m still scratching my head as to how the Eagles are favoured by a touchdown. Starting QB Nick Foles is out for what looks like the remainder of the season with a broken collarbone and backup Mark Sanchez will be in charge of not blowing a 6-2 record for the birds.

Sanchez was good enough a week ago filling in for Foles and looked comfortable in the offense, though he still fired two picks. On the Panthers side, they will finally have a healthy offensive line to protect QB Cam Newton, who when given time can absolutely shred a defense. The Eagles have been susceptible to big plays all season and I think Newton is going to have his way with Philly’s weak secondary.

Week 10 NFL Pick: Seven points is just way too many for a team with a QB making his first start of the season. At home or not, I don’t see how Sanchez can run up enough points to make up for the defense’s shortcomings. This will be a close one that likely comes down to the last drive of the game. Go with Carolina.
